Taggato: US cane corso mastiff
Hello everyone. I’d like to introduce myself my name is Lawrence and I fell in love with this dog when I first saw them when I was stationed in Napoli Italy with the US Navy. I would see them while traveling to seaports throughout Italy for the Navy. What I saw in this dog was strength, intelligence and balance. A dog that need very little command that understood what his handler required and performed the duties flawlessly. I would see them accompaning the herder of buffalo and ship, as guard with the poliza while on patrol and at various shops. I asked my Italian staffer what kind of dog was that and his reply was; “they are old dogs, farm dogs locally called run dogs”. Anyway the more I saw them the more I became interested in them. I returned to the States in 03 and acquired my first in 07 a formentino female from a stateside breeder and in 08 a grey tiger male from Argentina. Little did I know what I received as pups did not have the look that I saw while in Italy as they matured I was a little disappointed. But that was my mistake and I learned from that. I have another pair, a wheaten male and a grey tiger female both with Italian linage that are 19 months with the female being older by 3 wks. I have a litter due in about 10 days and looking forward to the results of the breeding this will be their 2nd litter.
Hello thanks for signing on the forum dedicated to the dog over . I’m glad you ‘ve hit our dog , he did it with a lot 🙂 The errors are important to improve the future . In the USA there are many dogs interesting , because other less crossed with other breeds other than the dog over …
They look nice dogs but remember , the most important thing is that they are functional dogs , fearless , balanced , working dogs . ; )
You are correct, my first pair as pups appeared to fit the type and look of what I saw while in Italy. But after they matured I began to notice imperfection in behavior and movement. My female was overly aggressive towards anyone that approached me or the property, my male showed issues with rear legs and hip movement. I no longer have them. The pair I have now exhibit all the traits that I saw with my first encounter of the Course and I am pleased with what I have and what they have produce with the first litter. I’m hoping for them to better this next litter. Photos of pups from first litter at 4 months
Thanks,
I don’t agree with a lot of the clubs take on the dog and what is acceptable, plus I especially do not care for the boxer type head! If I wanted a boxer I would purchase a boxer. There are a lot of dogs here in the States that are passed of as the Course so finding one close to the original type is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It took me a few yrs to find the pair I have now that fit the type, color and temperament of the Course from ancient times and this is what I breed for, the rustic and ancient colors. In a year or so I will be looking to purchase Italian lines to keep my gene pool diverse and as true to form as what I have researched and saw when in Napoli. These are great dogs and I would own no other. My Phoebe is due to whelp in a wk or less I’ll post photos of the litter.
Welcome! Your dogs are beautiful! Do you show the photos of the litter?
NP45 hello , thank you for the beautiful pictures you sent us . You have shown intelligence to select your dogs and avoid physical problems and character . It ‘ the first duty of the breeder is to breed healthy dogs . It seems that you are really doing a great job . Pay close attention to the character . The Cane Corso is a dog that defends the family strongly but always with intelligence and only when necessary. In America there are bloodlines very aggressive , a good friend is in jail because the couple of his dogs killed a man running … Be careful.
Hy NP45 nice to meet you.
Thanks to Signining our Forum.
First of all i wanna say i really love your dogs, and i really appreciate your clever about this world.
How Federico Said the errors are usefull if they Thaught us.
In Consideration of a Pure Cane Corso Breed, i can say that is really really difficult find a old and original bloodline also in Italy.
But here, in this Forum, we are strongly working about this.
I Also know, thant in a prestigious Corso Breeding farm in Puglia, in the last Year, Starts to Export a good Old-line-Corso-breed in USA.
Everybody said me they are good in alla Ways Morphology Attitude Character, but honestly i wasn’t already able to visit that Breeding farm.
I Gonna do as soon as possible.
